L'opera è illustrata da 81 tavole di esterni ed interni di architetture ecclesiastiche di città italiane, i cui disegni furono realizzati da G. Moore, D. Quaglio, J. Aliusetti, J. M. Knapp, Hallman, and E. Lear, mentre le litografie da Owen Jones, G. Moore, T. T. Bury, and R. K. Thomas. George Belton Moore, disegnatore di paesaggi, architettura e topografia, fu allievo di Augustus Charles Pugin (1762-1832). George insegnò disegno alla Royal Military Academy di Woolwich e all'University College di Londra. Espose paesaggi, spesso di soggetti italiani, alla Royal Academy e ad altre mostre dal 1830 fino alla sua morte. George Belton Moore, was born on 24 March and baptised at St Marylebone, London on 26 May 1806, son of William Moore and his wife Mary. A landscape, architectural and topographical draughtsman who was a pupil of Augustus Charles Pugin (1762-1832). George taught drawing at the Royal Military Academy at Woolwich and at University College, London. He exhibited landscapes, often of Italian subjects, at the Royal Academy and other exhibitions from 1830 until his death.
