Blankenburg, [privately published (printed by Philipp Adam Pape)], 1782. Large 4to (33.8 x 19.1 cm). xii, 471 pp. 44 engraved plates. 20th century green buckram. Edges red. = Rare early contribution to the intestinal worms by the German zoologist (in particular entomologist and helminthologist) Johann August Ephraim Goeze (1731-1793). The work, printed "für den Verfasser", is richly illustrated on 44 plates with rather curious numbering: this is the only work we know in which 18 and 28 are represented by "XIIX", and "XXIIX" respectively. The numbering runs from I to XXXV, but there are bis-plates to the numbers VII, XI, XVII, "XIIX" [i.e. XVIII], XXII, XXV, XXXI, and XXXII. Moreover, plate V is double; one clean, the other with a caption in an old hand, and the plates VI, and XXI occur even in threefold; one clean, and two with different captions in the same old hand. Bookplate on front pastedown; inoffensive blindstamp on title, with cancellation on verso, and in one page margin. A very good copy. Nissen ZBI, 1615.
