Descrizione

4to (279x208 mm). CXXVIII, [4: errata] pp. Lombardi's engraved coat-of-arms on the title page. Text printed in three columns within a typographic border. Contemporary quarter vellum, lettering piece on spine, panels covered by colored paper, marbled edges (worn and rubbed). Some minor foxing, a very good, genuine copy.
Apparently unrecorded first and only edition of this impressive catalogue of 3,036 relics that Marco Antonio Lombardi (1710-1782), bishop of Crema and last abbot of the benedectine monastry of Leno, near Brescia, donated to the church of San Marino at Cordevigo, near Verona.
The volume includes three catalogues: Catalogus I continens seriem Sanctorum ad Litaniarum ferme ordinem dispositam, which contains the list of the relics arranged by the holy figures to whom they refer, along with their provenance (Christ, Virgin Mary, saints, martyrs, pontifices, bishops, female saints and martyrs, etc.); Catalogus II seu Sanctorum nomina, quorum Reliquiae habentur in hoc Sanctuario, ordine alphabetico digesta, which contains the list in alphabetical order of the saints whose relics are preserved in the sanctuary; Catalogus III seu Series Sanctorum per singulos Anni dies distributa, which lists the saints whose relics are preserved in the sanctuary arranged by the day on which they are celebrated in the calendar.
Apparently unrecored in any worldwide librarty.
