Barcellona è la prima città ad aprirsi alle estetiche moderne, come documentano le mostre organizzate dalle Galeries Dalmau e il celebre ritrovo culturale Els Quatre Gats, frequentato dal giovane Picasso. Segue Madrid, in cui si distingue la Residencia de Estudiantes, una Oxford internazionale dove vivono Lorca, Dalí e Buñuel. Tre geni: un poeta, un pittore e un regista cinematografico, che dialogano e si influenzano reciprocamente. Nel processo di interazione delle diverse discipline – del quale fa parte anche l’impressionismo musicale del maestro Manuel de Falla – la scrittura è al contempo disegno, collage, graffito e materiale iconografico. Il pittore è poeta, e viceversa, come insegna l’opera di Lorca, Alberti e Moreno Villa.
