Descrizione
2 volumes. First edition thus. Grimm's Tales illustrated with colourplates and drawings throughout the text by Fritz Kredel and Andersen's Tales with colourplates and drawings throughout the text by Arthur Szyk. 8vo, in the original contrasting red and green cloth, the upper covers with colour paste-downs within multi-lined gilt ruled frames, the spines gilt lettered within gilt frames, with bright full-colour pictorial endpapers, and in the original single slipcase which holds both volumes. 373 pp., 343 pp. A very fine set, the books near as new, the slipcase only with a bit of rubbing and a few marks but solid, strong and complete.
Edizione: a beautiful set, arguably the two greatest collections of stories wonderfully illustrated by two of the period's most impressive illuminators.
