Oblong 8vo (108x150 mm). XXXII, 112 pp. Page set in triple columns with French text and Turkish text printed in Arabic and Roman script. Contemporary quarter leather gilt, panels covered by marbled papers (slightly worn and rubbed). Red stamp “Victor Faglain Laon (Aisne)” on the front flyleaf. Some occasional light foxing, a good copy.
First edition of this French-Turkish conversation manual divided into three parts. The first part is an introduction to Turkish grammar; the second part presents samples of basic conversation; the third part is a vocabulary list of most common, or practical words. The work ends with a table of the currencies, weights, and measures of the Ottoman Empire, again in the same triple language system.
