4to (265x180 mm). 25, [1 blank], 1508 pp. Page [812] is a blank. Half title, Armenian title and Italian title. Woodcut vignettes on the title pages. Contemporary full leather gilt, lettering piece on spine, gilt edges, marbled endleaves (worn and rubbed, joints and corner partly restored). Small stain to the upper outer corner of the first leaves, some scattered foxing, all in all a very good copy.
Rare first edition of this important Armenian-Italian dictionary. The author, born in Gümüşhane, Turkey, also known as Manouel Chakhchakhian or Manuel Caxcaxean or Manowel Jakhjakhean, was a priest of the Armenian Catholic Mekhitarist Congregation of Venice. He also published in Venice an Italian-Armenian-Turkish dictionary in 1804 and an Italian-French-Armenian-Turkish dictionary in 1829.
