In in Physical Review Letters, Vol. 23, No. 24, 15 december 1969, pp. 1415-1417. The whole number in original printed wrappers. .A very fine copy, ownership signature. FIRST EDITION of Feynman's invention of the ‘parton model,’ said by Feynman’s fellow Nobel laureate Yuval Ne’eman to be one of his two greatest contributions to physics (the other being Feynman diagrams). “For most of the 1960s [Feynman] focused on problems regarding the extreme high energy of heavy particles. In 1969 he devised a theory of "partons" for analyzing high-energy hadron collisions; his partons were later recognized as the quarks and gluons discovered by Murray Gell-Mann, but Feynman's theory remains fundamental to the current understanding of particle physics” (Selected Papers of Richard Feynman, pp. 488-9).
