Dark green endpapers. Speckled edges. = First edition, in the superior publisher's hard cover, of this important study - later translated into English - by the Nobel-prize winner Richard Willstätter (1872-1942) and his pupil, Arthur Stoll (1887-1971). Both authors were working at the Kaiser Wilhelm-Institut für Chemie in Berlin, and their research on chlorophyl brought Willstätter the Nobel prize in chemistry in 1915. This work is much less common than their other great work, "Untersuchungen über die Assimilation der Kohlensaure". Four plates are not printed, but real photos. Very light shelf ear; some mostly light and marginal spotting, notably on the first and last few leaves, otherwise a very good, nicely bound and clean, unmarked copy. DSB 14, pp. 411-412.
