COMPLETE COLLECTION OF THE ILLUSTRATED ENTERTAINMENT JOURNALS “UEBER LAND UND MEER”, ISSUED IN 1896 AND BOUND IN TWO VOLUMES. Ueber land und meer [“Over land and sea”] was an illustrated entertainment Journal, which first appeared in Stuttgart in 1858 in folio format and later in octave format. It was published since 1923. The weekly paper was subtitled General Illustrierte Zeitung and had therefore refer to the model, the successful Illustrierte Zeitung. The content was humoristic and should entertain but also educate. Particularly important was the link with many pictures. The weekly newspaper was founded by the successful author Friedrich Wilhelm Hackländer and the Stuttgart publisher and bookseller Eduard Hallberger. Since 1881, the magazine was published by the German publishing house, then from 1888 was subtitled Deutsche Illustrirte Zeitung. Ref.: IT\ICCU\TO0\0182713. OCLC, 48896995.
