Christiania, Johan Dahl, 1857. 8vo (22.4 x 13.5 cm). [ii], 141 pp.; several text engravings, three hand-coloured maps, five large, folded hand-coloured profiles. Contemporary half cloth over marbled boards. Paper label on the spine. = Rare, early contribution to the geology of Norway, preceding the first author's better known work "Die Geologie des südlichen und mittleren Norwegen". The maps and profiles are well-colored. The Norwegian geologist Theodor Kjerulf (1825-1888) was a director of the Norwegian Geological Survey and professor at the University of Oslo. His colleague and fellow countryman Tellef Dahll (1825-1893) was a mineralogist responsible for locating many economically important ores. Preliminary pages a bit spotted, some age-toning, spine cover starting, with the paper label partly chipped, otherwise a very good, clean copy. Not in Ward & Carozzi.
