With the illustrations from the original first editions, as well as additional material such as manuscript copies, portraits, etc. 8vo, in contemporary three-quarter tan calf over marbled boards, the spines decorated in gilt in compartments between flat bands, two contrasting labels lettered in gilt, marbled endpapers, t.e.g. Internally a nice solid set, the bindings still firm and strong but with rubbing and edge wear, the spines mellowed with chipping at several of the spine tips, a few labels lacking, one volume lacking additional leather on the spine, lacking volume 21, 'A Tale of Two Cities'.

Edizione: one of the very best collected sets of dickens. it “contains all the original illustrations, with many additional ones by charles green, henry furniss, maurice grieffenhagen et al”. they were printed from author's carefully corrected editions of 1867 and 1868.
