Edizione: conroy’s most famous book, considered by many as a masterpiece of the 1980s. the film, produced in 1991, was nominated for seven academy awards including best picture. while the film was a box office hit and raised barbara streisand's reputation as a director, its numerous changes from the original novel upset many conroy purists.
