Printed title on the spine. = "This paper was originally illustrated by numerous figures. The original drawings, blocks, and first proofs were destroyed in the great fire in San Francisco, April 18, 1906." (first footnote). The (only) published edition has only one plate, with a new species of flatfish. On the internet, some antiquarian bookdealers report 251 pages, and/or 21 plates. These bookdealers can neither read nor count. The paper is paginated 159-251, and only plate XXI belongs to it. A very good clean and complete copy in - unusual - a nice binding. Dean II, p. 480.
