Edizione: first of the edition. campbell had come before the public at the age of twenty-one, with a metrical essay on the pleasures of hope. it was of the school of goldsmith and pope and others--the well hewn heroic couplet. the work here is divided effectively into longer poems, poems historical and legendary, songs of battle, translations from the greek, juvenilia and miscellaneous poems. it is a fine collection of the poet’s work.
