4to., First Edition, with coloured frontispiece, 7 fine coloured plates, 74 plates in monochrome on 42, numerous illustrations and 4 full-page maps in the text, and endpaper maps in blue; handsomely bound in full navy crushed morocco, sides with gilt frame border, back with raised bands, second and fourth compartments lettered and ruled in gilt, all other compartments tooled in gilt, gilt top, a most attractive copy ideal as a gift or for presentation. The coloured plates and illustrations are by the author, who was an active participant in the bitterly-fought coastal campaign. The numerous well-chosen photographs capture brilliantly the relatively unsophisticated nature of the craft involved, together with fine portraits of many of the leading figures responsible for their dramatic exploits.
