Edizione: signed and limited, signed by the president. coolidge speaks in an endearing way of his childhood in the woods and mountains near killington, vt and his process of political maturation and service to his community and nation. the book is ably written and articulate in its presentation and leads the reader to a new appreciation of a man often relegated to the obscure because of his quietude. especially noteworthy in the present day is to read coolidge’s own thinking about the methodology of the presidency, its struggles with the other branches of government and the absolute necessity for the president to bear the burden of that struggle in order to protect in an absolute way, the rights and privileges of the executive, and thus its equality with the other branches. all of this from a man who came from a simple country environment, from local people and through service in both the legislative and legal bodies to his place in the executive branch.
