André, not Marshall], 1888 [?1891]. 8vo (23.0 x 15.3 cm). x, 609 pp., unnumbered plate explanations; 18 lithographed plates, of which seven (V-X, XII) finely hand-coloured. Later black cloth. Blue endpapers. Original printed front wrapper preserved. = Important treatise, with fine illustrations of new and little known species. This is part IV of the Species des Hymenoptères d'Europe et d'Algérie edited by J. E. [E.] André. André wrote the preface. Thomas Ansell Marshall (1827-1903) also authored the Monograph of the British Braconidae. The title page is dated 1888, the wrapper, however, 1891. The first date is correct, according to Horn-Schenkling II. Minor spotting to a few plates - somewhat more to the wrapper and half-title; otherwise a very good, clean copy. Rare.
