This catalog was prepared to accompany the exhibition at Waldemarsrudde, Stockholm during the late summer and fall of 2000. Organized by Ingrid Ehrhardt and Simon Reynolds. The exhibition also travelled to Birmingham, England and Frankfurt, Germany. In English the title of the exhibition is: 'Kingdom of the Soul - Symbolist Art in Germany, 1870 - 1920'. Essays by a dozen art historians on different aspects of the German Symbolist art movement. The largest section concerns painting, but also an extensive section on sculpture. Briefer reviews of graphic arts and book design and fine bindings. Bibliography. Exhibition checklist has over 195 works (some numbers have a, b, c etc. parts).
