Metz, Verronnais, 1883. 8vo (21.5 x 13.4 cm). 15 pp. Original blind wrappers, and protective blind wrappers. = A very rare - over-modestly titled - publication on the molluscs of the département Moselle in northeastern France. Author is the French Roman Catholic, malacologist and botanist Abbé (abbot) René Theodore Barbiche (1840-1901). The numerous annotations, in footnotes, show that Barbiche knew his molluscs and their synonymy, yet this seems to be his only malacological publication and he is not mentioned in the 2400 years of malacology database. Provenance: stamp of the American malacologist Richard Irwin Johnson (1925-2020) in the top margin of the wrappers. A very good copy.
