ONE OF ONLY 15 COPIES ON PAPER MADE IN MADAGASCAR, OF THIS LIVRE D'ARTISTE PRINTED IN MADAGASCAR. Illustrated with 12 full-page hors-texts etchings by notable printmaker Urbain-Faurec. From an edition limited to 215 numbered copies, this is ONE OF ONLY 15 COPIES PRINTED ON FINE MADAGASCAR WOVE PAPER. This is furthermore a presentation copy with a 5-LINE SIGNED AND DATED PRESENTATION INSCRIPTION FROM CHAUMEL TO GENERAL HENRI GOURAUD (1867-1946), a leading military figure both in French Africa and during World War I (at the time this book was published, he was governor general of Paris). Folio. Loose as issued in original wraps. Housed in original folding case covered in cloth from Madagascar. A little foxing (as with virtually all books born in the tropics), else FINE AND BRIGHT. The deluxe edition, on Madagascar paper, is extremely rare.
