Folio (390 x 257 mm) 2pp., printed on both sides, at sometime folded, large woodcut ësun faceí symbol of the Sun Fire Office at head, different fire insurance policies being offered printed in two columns, divided by an ornamental rule, and a table of annual premiums to be paid for insurance's, written at head in ink in a contemporary hand is the names of Higgenson and Bentley and the policy number, a very good copy. The Sun Fire Office originated in a business established by Charles Povey in 1708 and known as the Exchange House Fire Office. This office used the Sun symbol as its firemark and became commonly known as the Sun Fire Office. The business was taken over by the Company of London Insurers in 1710 and formally constituted as a partnership known as the Sun Fire Office. These annual terms of insurance are rare, ESTC returns several editions between 1710 and 1794, each recorded by one or two copies, our 1775 edition is unrecorded.
