Yellow endpapers. = A rare, complete volume from the heydays of descriptive zoology and exploration. With contributions, including the descriptions of many new species, by Henry Adams (Mollusca), John Gould (birds), Edward Gray (mainly mammals), Albert Günther (herpetology), Otto Mörch (Vermetidae), Louis Pfeiffer (land shells), Philip Sclater (ornithology), and many others, mainly on malacology, herpetology, and ornithology. In those years, copies were sold with and without plates. This copy is without plates, which were sold seperately. Fore edge uncut. Blindstamp in the lower margin of the title; a few spots, otherwise a very good, clean copy.
