Original 17 silver gelatine photos, one original photo postcard, and two postcards. 9x14 cm. "Yoshisaka Photo & Co., Shangai" stamp on the verso of a photo. A very good collection. A rare small photographic collection documenting mass and individual deaths, executions and torture during the Second Sino-Japanese War was fought between the Republic of China and the Empire of Japan between 1937 and 1945, following a period of war localized to Manchuria that started in 1931. The photos are taken or collected and used by "Yoshisaka Photo & Co.", a Japanese photographer working in Shanghai. The studio was at 37 Chapoo Road (now Zhapu Lu), Shanghai. Yoshisaka Photo & Co. is renowned as the photography studio that captured Rabindranath Tagore's trip to Shanghai.
