4 volumes. First Edition. With fine Scottish provenance being Ex-libris of the Bellfield Library, Kilmarnock and James Buchanan, merchant of Glencoe. With half-titles in each volume and erratum in volume three, which is often lacking. 8vo, handsomely bound in vellum over blue paper-covered boards, with the publisher's original printed paper labels on the spines, top edge gilt, others untrimmed xxxii, 302; 319; 315; 320 pp. A set in beautiful condition, the text-block as pristine, edges untrimmed, as near to spotless and 'as new' as could be realistically expected. The bindings are sturdy and strong and show very little wear or use, the blue paper and vellum are have a bit of spotting from time, publisher's printed labels are fresh and very legible. Ownership signature of James Buchanan and stamp of the Bellfield Library unobtrusively at the top of each titlepage, no other markings within, small circular paper shelf label on volume one and with slight evidence of there once being matching labels on the other volumes.
