Original printed boards. = Important and scarce monograph of the Polyplacophora (Amphineura, Loricata) of the seas of the former USSR, with the original descriptions and illustrations of more than ten new species. The frontispiece shows nine species in full colour. The plates and text illustrations are excellent, focussing on shells and living animals (plates), and shells, radulae and other taxonomically important parts (text figures). This is Fauna USSR volume 45. In Russian. There is a later (Jerusalem, 1965) translation, titled Shell-bearing mollusks (Loricata) of the seas of the U.S.S.R., but this is the original edition. Small, oval stamp of the library of the Tussian Academy of Sciences (the publisher) on front free endpaper, title page verso and plate versos (not shining through); a few stamps and a label on the rear board. Otherwise a very good copy.
