Descrizione
London, Groombridge and Sons, 1865-1867. Two parts in one. Large 8vo (24.0 x 15.0 cm). with 79 coloured woodcut plates, 909 plain woodcuts in the text. Contemporary gilt-chain bordered half calf over grained cloth boards. Spine with five raised, gilt-ornamented bands, compartments with blind embossed vignettes and brown morocco label with gilt title. Marbled edges, = First edition of this well-illustrated work on ferns. The plates are well-coloured. Some light foxing, as usual, a few plates with a marginal dampstain in the very lower margin. Title to second volume discarded, front board detached. Otherwise very good copy. Nissen BBI, 1244; Pritzel, 5643.
