About The Book: This book presented about our administration of India, with a Focus on the Roles and Responsibilities of a district officer in Bengal. In a Bengal district, the senior administrative officer is referred to as the district officer or magistrate-collector. In the role of Collector, they oversee revenue collection, while as a Magistrate, they wield authority over criminal and quasi-criminal matters, both in original and appellate capacities. However, there are certain areas of administration where the District Officer is designated as Magistrate or Collector somewhat arbitrarily. For instance, they are referred to as Magistrate for matters related to postal and telegraph administration, as well as heading the Police, Jail, and Municipal Commissioners. Similarly, they act as Magistrate when overseeing education, the collection of vital statistics, emigration, sanitation, and vaccination."
