Red and blue marbled edges. = An amazingly well-preserved copy of the rare first volume, "Erster Band", of - as stated on the first title - the Erläuterungen zur geologischen Karte der Rheinprovinz und der Provinz Westphalen, and an important contribution to the geology of this German region. The second title, quoted above, is for the same work as a stand-alone publication. Written by the German geologist Ernst Heinrich Karl von Dechen (1800-1889). A flawless, truly mint copy: no markings, no toning, no spotting. Very rare in this superb condition.
