Original printed wrappers. = Important anatomical work on the Polypterus from Africa, the only vertebrate with lungs but without trachea, and sometimes considered as the "missing link" between fishes and amphibians. Written by the Britisch zoologist and embryologist John Samuel Budgett (1872-1904) who died from blackwater fever due to researching Polypterus in the swampy wild. Uncut. Small chip to wrapper's spine top; wrapper edges a bit frayed, as often with uncut papers, otherwise an excellent, clean copy. Rare.
