London, The Royal Society, 1862. Large 4to (30.1 x 23.0 cm). 14 pp., 7 fine. lithographed plates. Original printed wrappers. = Two rare papers by Richard Owen. The first written in memory of the father of Prince Alfred, Prince Albert, who suggested the specimens to be handed to Owen. Owen starts his paper with quoting the whole note, sent to him by Alfred on the 15th of November, 1860. Published in the Society's Philosophical Transactions for the year 1862 (= Vol. 152, Part I.). Tiny stamp on the front wrapper, otherwise a very good, complete copy.
