Helsingfors, Hos A. W. Gröndahl, 1848-1857. 4to (26.1 x 20.1 cm). Three volumes in one. 856 pp. [307; 299; 250] pp. Three plates (one in photostat.). Contemporary mottled roan over marbled boards. Original printed wrappers to the first two volums bound in. = The very rare start of the first Finnish natural history periodical. With contributions by Von Wright on birds; W. Nylander (e.g. on bees), and others. Provenance: the pictorial bookplate of Otto E. A. Hjelt on the front wrapper versos. A few old stamps on titles and last tekst leaves. Spine cover perished; damp staining to upper margins and gutters, one of the three plates in colour copy; otherwise good.
