London, The Zoological Society of London, 1865. 8vo. Drophead title, 2 pp., one finely engraved and hand-coloured plate by Joseph Wolf. Offprint. Disbound. = The description of a new, less prickly porcupine species, the stump-tailed porcupine Erethizon rufescens from Colombia. Rare, especially the offprint edition with its own title page, not the excerpt of the Society's Proceedings, which, however is rare too. The plate, by the famous artist Joseph Wolf (1820-1899) one of the great pioneers of wildlife art ("Wikipedia"), is nice and clean. A good copy.
