London, The Annals and Magazine of Natural History, 1850. 8vo (22.3 x 14.5 cm). 22 pp., three engraved plates. Contemporary (original?) blind wrappers. = First review of Lamarck's species, which lie at the heart of brachiopod taxonomy, followed by a second paper including new taxa. Consolidated offprint, signed by the author on the front wrapper and dedicated to Paul Deshayes, the French malacologist who as a palaeontologist published on fossils from the Paris Basin and also contributed to the works of Lyell. Two other hasndwritings om the front wrapper, of which one probably is Deshayes's. A very good copy.
