Leipzig, Gerhard Fleischer, 1832. 4to (26.7 x 21.4 cm). 87 pp.; four engraved plates of which one partly in original hand colouring. 19th century half linen over marbled boards. = Written by the German malacologist Carl Gustav Carus (1789-1869). True offprint, with new title page and double (however identical!) page numbering. Provenance: the Conchological Society of Great Britain and Ireland (their oval stamp on the front free endpaper and title page; then purchased by Wheldon & Wesley (their stamp over the Conchological Society stamps, and dated May 1954, and finally bought by the American malacologist Richard Irwin Johnson (1925-2020), with his stamp in the top margin of the title page. Spine covered perished, otherwise a very good copy.
