Tübingen, H. Laupp, 1860. Large 4to (30.1 x 22.8 cm). iv, 252 pp., ten engraved plates. Contemporary black half cloth over plain aubergine boards. Hand-written label on the spine. in transparent plastic sleeve. = Important contribution to the knowledge of the Cladocera, in partcular the water fleas of Eurasia, with, e.g., new species from the Bodensee, and Schliersee. Written by the versatile German zoologist Franz [von] Leydig (1821-1908). The minute crustaceans are beautifully illustrated by the author. Mostly slight foxing in the text, two plates a bit more spotted - but not truly obtrusive and otherwise a very good copy. Rare. Nissen ZBI, 2492.
