Questo trattato è un classico del suo genere che ebbe numerosiss. ediz., sovente in forme modificate, fino al XX secolo. L'A., lo scrittore inglese Edmond Hoyle (1672-1769), era considerato un'autorità nell'ambito dei giochi con le carte. Il suo famoso breve trattato sul gioco del "whist" (stampato per la prima volta nel 1742), fu presto seguito da manuali su altri giochi e nel 1748 furono amalgamati in un'opera completa.Qualche pagg. ingiallita altrimenti esemplare ben conservato. Raro.
