Sale code: POMPON-NEWTON-3532. The sale consisted of the scientific manuscripts and papers of Emilie du Chatelet (1706- 1749) who was a French mathematician, physicist, and author during the Age of Enlightenment. Her crowning achievement is considered to be her translation and commentary on Isaac Newton's work Principia Mathematica. The translation, published posthumously in 1759, is still considered the standard French translation. Text of the catalog in French with very brief remarks in English. 58 lots in the sale.
