Encouraged by Rev. George E. Ellis and Rev. Solon W. Bush, he undertakes the task of presenting true and substantial information about India's manners, customs, and religious institutions. The book is divided into two parts, one focusing on Hindoo life and the other on the Hindoo religion as observed in contemporary times.
