Indianapolis, IN, Department of Conservation, State of Indiana, 1920. Two volumes in two. 4to. 1172 pp.; 36 plates of which 27 coloured, depicting fishes. One folding map. Original uniform grey cloth with gilt title on the spines. = Deals mainly with fishes and fishing, physical features, biology such as birds and reptiles of this North American Lake. With a peculiar double provenance: first volume with on the front free endpaper recto "to Prof Edwin Chapin Starks with compliments of his friend Barton Warren Evermann December 25, 1920"; and second volume with loosely inserted a rectangular paper slip, "To Dr. Charles Upson Clark with the compliments of H. Walton Clark XII-15-1920". This is a fairly common set, although rarer outside the U.S.A., but few copies are signed, let alone double signed in both author's handwriting.
