Spine with four raised bands; compartments with gilt vignettes and title. Front board with large gilt vignette ‘Lycée du Prince Impérial’. Marbled endpapers. Finely sprinkled edges. = The text states that this work was originally published in English, and part of a larger series with other volumes on, e.g., mammals, and birds; but English editions are entirely unknown, and nothing is known about the author, "Jonathan Franklin". Apparently, this is a pirated edition, and the "author" does not really exist! (A. Kabat, pers. comm.). A beautifully preserved, clean copy. Near mint. Quite rare.
