Palgrave II, pag. 59: "Filangeri was one of the most important writers on economics in the latter years of the last century. He did not create a new system, or any new theory; he had a considerable acquaintance with the economical studies of his time, he followed no leader, standing between the physiocratic and mercantilist theory; he sustains the principle of the balance of trade, but he argues for a system of liberty both for exportation and importation tempered only by the opinion that laws ought to be different in countries differently circunstanced; his works are thus the prelude to a historical system of social legislation". Gamba, 2586: "Stimabile edizione. La dizione del Filangeri, che visse soli 36 anni, e morì nel 1788, è incolta, ma l'opera è di tale Italiano, cui andranno sempre debitrici le scienze economiche e le legislative".
