About the Book :- The author has drawn a beautiful sketch of South India’s cultural heritage. This is the travelogue of a French missionary, in the French language, who traveled in south India in 1889 – 1900. The entire book has a missionary tinge, and pays special emphasis on the progress of Christianity in the region. Also given are accounts of the people, their customs, their pantheon, the system of castes, notable temples etc. The book contains 130 fine illustrations which author has preserved from oblivion as he considers his pious duty in the interest of South India and its people. There are other illustrations to show them in context of the missionary work, which is a reprint of the 1901 edition. Though the book is a rare one, it may be recognized even by those who dissent from the author’s views.
