Illustrated mostly in black & white, some color with drawings of Jocelyn Herbert's set and costume designs for most of her well known collaborations with playwrights like Samuel Beckett, John Arden, Arnold Wesker, John Osborne and David Storey. Also vintage photographs showing her directors like George Devine, Tony Richardson, Lindsay Anderson and John Dexter. This book covers Herbert's work at the Royal Court with the English Stage Company and the Royal National Theatre, as well as many smaller theaters.
