About the Book:-The main objective of this work is to meet the need of those who require to make use of the spoken language without the usual expenditure of time and effort necessary to acquiring the grammar. It therefore supplies the words in common everyday use, classified according to subject, including extensive vocabularies for the army, navy, trade and commerce, mi s s i ona r y e nt e r pr i s e, t r a v e l e t c . , together wi th a l arge number of colloquial phrases and sentences of a practical character, similarly classified. T h r o u g h o u t t h e s e s e c t i o n s t h e pronunciation of the Japanese words is added in accordance with Marlborough's well-known system of phonetics, a system which by its simplicity enables anyone speaking English to read off the words at a glance, although previously unacquainted with the language. The student will of course do well to avail himself as far as possible of the services of a competent instructor in order to perfect his pronunciation etc., on the other hand, teachers will find in this book a u s e f u l s u p p l e me n t t o t h e i r oral instruction
