"Auf die Frage, ob Fotografie Kunst sei, hat Ara Guler beharrlich immer mit "Nein" geanwortet. Dieses Nein begrundete er zuletzt mit dem Hinweis auf Oscar Wilde: "Es gibt keine Fotokunst," so sagt Ara Guler, "also gibt es auch keine Fotokunstler. Lass mich dir den Unterschied zwischen Kunst und Fotografie erklaren: Kunst entsteht aus einer Luge und lugt auch selbst.".
