Upsala, Palmblad, 1826. Two papers in two. 4to (20.8 x 16.8 cm; 24.6 x 19.8 cm). Title page, dedication page, pp. 17-24, [i]; Title page, dedication on verso, 8 pp. = The first paper being a work by the Swedish botanist and entomologist Carl Peter Thunberg (1743-1828), a student or 'apostle' of Linnaeus, defended by Petrus Jacobus Liedbeck, on 29 March 1826. It consists of an 8-page list of plants cultivated in the botanical garden of the university, and a single page, not numbered, with five "theses respondentis", the fourth being "In practicis scientiis aestimanda est speculatio, nisi vero ab experientia manuducatur falsa est illa". Vague damp-stain to the upper quarter, otherwise a very good, very wide-margined copy. The second paper being a similar thesis, defended by Elis Hedrén on 1 June 1825. It deals with polygamous plants. A very good, clean copy. Both papers are rare.
