8vo., First Edition, with front endpaper map and rear endpaper diagram; handsomely bound in full navy crushed morocco, sides with gilt frame border, back with raised bands, second and fourth compartments lettered and ruled in gilt, all other compartments tooled in gilt with an anchor motif, gilt top, hand-made endpapers, ribbon marker, custom-made-slip-case, an elegant copy ideal as a gift or for presentation. Elegant copy of the author's first novel, following his service in the Royal Navy during WWII: a dramatic tale of a light cruiser escorting Arctic convoys. Due primarily to its vivid description of life above and below decks, it is one of the few works of fiction recorded by Law. Law, 1864.
