Quattro volumi in-8°; L pp., 1 c., 456 pp. - VII, 504 pp. - VII, 479 pp. - VII, 562 pp. Elegante legatura coeva in mezza pergamena avorio con angoli, doppio tassello in marocchino con titoli in oro e ricchi fregi incisi in oro a piccoli ferri al dorso, piatti in carta marmorizzata così come i risguardi e i tagli (legatura Webb, Liverpool). Ottimo esemplare. Prima edizione, piuttosto rara (nessun esemplare in ICCU, che registra solo un'edizione successiva). George Miller (1764-1848) fu un importante e riconosciuto accademico di Dublino. "The general style of these volumes is honourable to the author's scholarship: it is remarkably distinct, vigorous, and free from superfluous ornament; but in parts where the subject admitted of the change, it becomes rich and eloquent… On the whole, we entirely congratulate the author… What Montesquieu accomplished foor the laws of Europe, Dr. Miller has done for its history" (London Literary Gazette).
