A factual account of events in South West Africa from the beginning of the nineteenth century when first white men, the missionaries, arrived to convert the inhabitants to Christianity. Extract from the lively reports and the diaries of the early missionaries enable the reader to live with their sufferings and frustration and to follow the hostilities between the various tribes inhabiting the territory.
The author gives a detailed account of the diplomatic conflict between Britain and the Germany of Bismark which resulted in the German Occupation of the territory in 1883. The history of the Occupation, which ended in 1915, is dealt with comprehensively, as is the subsequent period of administration by the Mandatory Power leading to the unresolved dispute between South Africa and U.N.O.
